Chocolate: the spots for gourmands

Chocolate drives adults and children crazy, but no one likes chocolate stains and they are the most feared by mothers because the little gluttons make really incredible messes with chocolate and they can stain clothes in a single instant. Chocolate is indeed a fatty food which can ruin your clothes: it must be removed quickly and effectively for this. Chocolate melts easily: this is what makes it so difficult to remove from our tissues. A secret may be to absorb it with del talcum powder (don’t you have any? Use the flour white!). The powder must be pressed onto the stains so that it penetrates well into the interior of the fabric.

The first thing to do

The first thing you can do in case of a chocolate stain is to scratch the chocolate off with a butter knife with a non-cutting blade (if you don’t have it, a spoon is fine too!) This solution allows you not to spread the stain and remove all the chocolate that has not yet come into contact with the fibers.
Try to be quick: the chocolate hardens quickly and then removing it is more difficult! Among the food residues, chocolate is the most complicated to send away, and if you do not treat the stain first, and do a normal machine wash in warm water after removing it will be more difficult!

Remove the chocolate stains with the detergent

After scratching the chocolate off the scrub, massage a little detergent on the stain and leave on dirty clothes for at least 10 minutes. At this point, immerse the garment in cold water and brush the stain and sprinkle with other detergent. Cold water will help you melt the fats of chocolate!
If you prefer the stain remover to the detergent, apply it on the dry fabric and leave for 20 minutes. Always be careful of the type of fabric you use it on stain remover, some garments can be damaged or faded! If you want to massage it with your hands, don’t forget gloves: hydrogen peroxide ruins your nails and chaps your hands!
After waiting for the right time you can rinse in cold water, first to the right and then to the wrong side of the garment in order to push away the chocolate trapped in the fibers.
Then you can wash easily, proceeding with the traditional washing method: at this point you should have removed a good part of the chocolate stain. Always look at the label on the dress so as not to ruin your clothes, and pay attention to the best recommended washing, whether by hand or dry so as to respect the colors and protect the fibers. If after washing in the washing machine in typical water there are chocolate residues on the fabric, you must repeat the immersion in water quickly. Never put a stained item in the dryer: you would fix the stain making it impossible to completely eliminate it! These spots are very stubborn but as you can see, it’s not impossible to send them away!
