THE stuffed sandwiches they are an idea for a different dinner than usual, or a delicious appetizer, also depending on the size you choose to make. The peculiarity of the recipe, in reality, lies in the cooking, because the sandwiches are first boiled and then baked in the oven: the result is a soft and moist dough inside and with a delicious thin crust on the outside, really delicious! It is therefore a basic recipe, so much so that I have not put the filling in the ingredients, also because if you want you can also leave them empty and then stuff them after cooking. In this case I used 150 g of smoked cheese and 100 g of speck, but you can use olives and peppers, minced meat sautéed with onion, courgettes and slices or whatever comes to mind and stimulates your imagination … and your stomach 😉
Procedure for preparing stuffed sandwiches
Put the yeast and sugar in a bowl with the milk and let them melt.
Then add flour, salt and oil and knead until you get a homogeneous and elastic dough.
Put the dough in a lightly greased bowl and let it rise for about 3 hours.
Take the dough back and divide it into 6 equal parts (or more, if you want to make appetizer sandwiches).
Roll out each piece of dough, place the chosen filling in the center and close the dough on top of the filling.
Heat some water in a large pot and, when it boils, lower the sandwiches and cook them for just 2 minutes, after which place the sandwiches on the baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for about 15-20 minutes at 200 ° C, in the oven. ventilated already hot.
The stuffed sandwiches are ready, let them cool for at least a few minutes before eating them.
